E-Tourism Frontiers will be making two presentations at INDABA 2015- Africa’s largest travel show. CEO Damian Cook will be presenting a case study of what happens when a small group of tourism businesses facing a downturn in business decide to take control of their own destiny and use online to market their region and their products, while retaining control of their own, image, brand and unique character. He will then discuss what the implications are of this for the future of destination marketing, when digitally empowered groups of stakeholders begin to produce their own content, brand and reach out to markets. What can destinations do to encourage and work together with regions and these new ‘digital communities’?
This will be a challenging session for destination managers but also a very practical, insightful and entertaining session for anyone working in a small to medium tourism business. Outside of all the theory and facts and figures about digital tourism- this will show what tourism stakeholders and product owners can do themselves to get their business online and use social media to reach new audiences, while retaining their own personality and character to create their own brand.
Damian will be presenting this case study at the INDABA Travel Bloggers Conference on Friday 8th May and again on Saturday 9th May in the main INDABA Tech Zone. Please see the official INDABA 2015 Website for details.
