E-Tourism Frontiers recently held a week long series of digital tourism seminars in Kathmandu for both the public and private tourism sector in Nepal. held in partnership with the local PATA chapter, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and TripAdvisor the seminars were a great success, with over 100 attendees.
Using local content and examples from the adventure, trekking and cultural products on offer, the PATA hosted seminars demonstrated how this content could be used online to market both the destination and individual companies. The sessions covered online distribution and sales, social media, mobile technology and the huge role of user generated content and influence of travellers experience in travel decision making. This was bolstered by presentations from Sarah Matthews the Destination Marketing Senior Sales manager for TripAdvisor APAC who used specific data from Nepal to demonstrate the level of user generated content and opportunities to make better use of reviews and locally sourced content.
The seminars were extremely useful for NTB as they planned their new and future Destination Management and Marketing strategies. A series of further in depth seminars and training programs in Nepal by E-Tourism Frontiers are now planned for 2015.
